30 Avenue Montaigne
Enter the heart of 30 Avenue Montaigne, this “packed little beehive” where the Christian Dior legend was born 75 years ago!
The house of Dior employed several illustrators, who produced a series of drawings representing the finished prototypes. These drawings showed the designs in all their detail, sometimes in color, at a time when photographs were taken in black and white.

In particular, they were used by the saleswomen, who selected a group of drawings to send to their clients when the latter were unable to attend the fashion show. A swatch of the fabric would be pinned to the drawing, sometimes accompanied by one or two alternative colors adapted to the taste of the client.
