The boutique

One day in June of 1955, the little Colifichets boutique closed at 30 Avenue Montaigne, only to open the very next day at 15, rue François Ier, under the supervision of its director, Marie-Hélène de Ganay. According to Christian Dior’s wishes, Victor Grandpierre decorated the huge boutique in “Louis XVI-Belle Époque” style.

“My dream is to be able to dress a ‘Christian Dior’ woman from head to toe.”
Christian Dior

For the very first time, a woman could be dressed entirely head to toe, thanks to all the products now grouped under the couturier's magical name: stockings, gloves, perfumes, and shoes designed by Roger Vivier, made by Charles Delman. There was also for the first time an area dedicated to men and another to tableware.

Today, the Avenue Montaigne boutique has reinvented itself and become a reflection of “this mysterious thing called life,” as the couturier had wished.
