Belladone Island
Fine Jewellery Belladone Island collection, 2007
In 2007 Victoire de Castellane, Creative Director of Dior Jewelry, presented her Fine Jewelry collection Belladone Island at the Musée de l’Orangerie. An imaginary boat sailed at the center of the room in which Claude Monet’s monumental Water Lilies was hung.
Inspired by nature, the designer crystallized extravagant and audacious flora in a dreamlike world, with names reminiscent of an ancestral herbarium and the magical formulas of bewitching elixirs.
The bold choice of raw Ethiopian opal embodied the untamable nature.
The use of “LS” setting means the stones can be admired in all their facets, like a stained glass effect. For the petals, the stones were set on both sides, requiring more than 2,200 stones, and took the atelier three months to complete.
This bracelet encompasses a number of technical innovations and many mysteries: the flower motif is detachable and can be turned into a brooch.
Once the flower is removed, the bracelet reveals the secret: “Find love, conquer it and keep it forever.” The bracelet, entirely hand-lacquered, can also be worn without the flower.
